Learning Disability Links

Over the past 40 years, educators have hoped that technology would help the neediest students to learn. That has worked a bit for mathematics, but in general, technology by itself has not helped children with learning disabilities. But good teachers have been able to use technology to help learning disabled children through sound teaching strategies and an understanding of the technology. Below are links that good teachers can use to help students with learning difficulties. Organized by subject or content area:

Mathematics

  • Discalculia.org maintains a website dedicated to students who have trouble learning math. Here’s a link to their list of “math tools.” Remember that it’s the teacher who makes these tools work (or not work):https://www.dyscalculia.org/math-tools
  • KhanAcademy.org has a rich variety of K-12 videos and quizzes that combine into a personalized sequence of instruction. KhanAcademy is one of the best educational resources in any format. It is strongest in mathematics. Also good in finance, science and some history and other subjects. It is available in many languages. For example, here is a link to the Arabic site: https://ar.khanacademy.org/
