Not all profit is created equal. Profits involving
a social purpose represent a higher form of capitalism.

Innovation & Entrepreneurship
You can be an innovative entrepreneur. What do you want to change for the better? What do you want to do that is new, different, useful, helpful, and/or productive? Whether you want to innovate for profit, for adventure, to do good, or all three, successful innovation is hard. This site helps you understand the whys, hows, ifs, and whens of innovation in education, business, engineering, health care, or any field of your interest.

The biggest barrier for education and innovation is ourselves.
~ Jorge Yzusqui, CEO Innova Schools

Creativity & Innovation
We are taught the stories of great innovators like Edison, the Wright Brothers, Ford, and Jobs. What what does it take to innovate? Well, you have to be creative. But how do you “become creative?” We will see how innovators prepare themselves to be more creative and how they discipline their creativity into true innovation.

The dirty little secret – the fact often denied – is that unlike the mythical epiphany, real creation is sloppy. Discovery is messy; exploration is dangerous. No one knows what he’s going to get when he is being creative.
~ Scott Berkun, The Myths of Innovation (2007)

Passion & Persistence
Creating an entrepreneurial enterprise can be the opposite of creativity; it takes commitment and hard work driven by a relentless passion to bring about change. Thomas Edison explained that invention is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Good advice from an experienced technical and organizational genius. But a different perspective arises when considering the people affected by your change.

There is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or more uncertain in its success, than to take the lead in the introduction of a new order of things. For the reformer has enemies in all those who profit by the old order, and only lukewarm defenders in all those who would profit by the new order, this lukewarmness arising partly from fear of their adversaries … and partly from the incredulity of mankind, who do not truly believe in anything new until they have had actual experience of it.
          ~ Niccolo Machiavelli (1469-1527)
